Exam season

Exams exams exams,

They bake your brains like ham.

You lose your cool,

You lose your senses.

You lose your sanity,

Till they’re done.

When the power’s out,

You study till the candle’s out.

You lose your sleep,

Your eyes turn red.

You lose your sanity,

Till they’re done.

You study and study,

Till your brain becomes curry.

And all you studied gets crammed,

Like a door gets jammed.

You lose your sanity,

Till they’re done.

Cotton candy

Fluffy like a cloud,

Light as a feather,

It melts in your mouth,

And kindles your taste buds.

Its sweetness takes you

By your senses,

And makes you want to turn back time,

And live your childhood again.

Pink like a Rose, or

Yellow like the Sun

Its color is such, as

That from a Rainbow.

Its soft like a pillow

Moisture makes it come together.

One look at it,

And you’ll want to dive into its world.

The Soap Bubble

Clear and Fragile,

Light and Round,

It’s so full, that

It could burst any moment.

When it rises towards sunlight,

One can see the colors it has,

And remember how wonderful life is.

It brings that smile

To a child’s face,

When he blows it carefully.

But it doesn’t hesitate

To bring that frown,

When it disappears, and

You end up wondering about its permanence.

It could appear small or big,

In twos or threes or even single,

It’s so full of mystery and surprises

And makes you want to wonder.

Clear and Fragile,

Light and Round,

So tender and yet so beautiful.

The Dream

Silver rays shimmered through the trees,

The cricket sang its little song,

The leaves were rustling: and

The owl stared into nothingness,

The night had an eerie feeling, and yet

It felt peaceful and calm.

The path that lay ahead of me,

I don’t know where it led to;

But I know there was something

Really mysterious and exciting about it.

So I decided to walk along the path

Hoping to find something really exciting.

In the distance, the werewolves started howling;

For it was the night of the Full Moon.

I started to pray that I wouldn’t be next,

To be turned into one of them.

I continued walking along the path,

Until I heard galloping.

I could hear it come closer and closer;

Then suddenly he came into sight.

His face was covered under his hood,

And he rode his horse like a prince;

He pulled me onto his horse

And let me ride with him.

Who is he? I wondered.

Where is he from? I wondered.

What does he look like? I wondered.

All I could say about him was,

That he was prince-like

And mysterious, of course.

We rode along the path

For so long, that I fell asleep

In his arms. The next thing I remembered,

Was seeing black eyes, black hair,

Fair skin. Wait, that was my mother;

She just woke me up. All of that was just a dream?

The Wonder Years

Those were the years really worth living;
Those years of innocence,
Those years of being in love,
Those years of stealing carrots from the fields
During cross country,
The wonder years.

Those years of sleeping through history classes
And flunking tests and begging for extra marks,
Those years of competition for the inter house championship,
Those years of happiness,
Those years of being crazy,
The wonder years.

Those years of rivalry with the Hebronites,
Those years of having the best outings to the city,
Those years of finding Cockroaches in the Biryani
Which was, Oh so Disgusting,
Those years of waiting for parents to send snacks from home,
The wonder years.

Friendship

You came into my life
For which I'm ever thankful.
And changed the way I looked at life;
Because you were there when I was happy,
You were there when I was sad,
You lent me your shoulder to cry on,
You told me what was right and wrong,
You brought that smile on my face,
For which I'm ever grateful.
You, my friend, are a blessing from above.

Days Of Glory

Getting up late and rushing to school,
And reaching late for prayers,
And sleeping through the history classes;
Those were the days of glory.

Going to the classrooms for evening studies,
And wasting time when one's supposed to study,
And flunking the tests and begging for extra marks,
Those were the days of glory.

Debating, Elocution, Drama, and Singing,
Basketball, Football, Cricket and Hockey,
That competition to get the Big Championship,
Those were the days of glory.

Those days of waiting for the Christmas dance,
Those days of waiting for the yearly outing,
Those days of waiting to have a private moment with one's beloved,
Those were the days of glory.
